Biography

From a young age, I've been strongly involved in many kinds of music and probably for this very reason, in my music you can hear influences from different genres, like electronic music, rock, jazz etc.

As a year nine, I went to music oriented school and quite soon I also started studies in a local music institute. First I studied trumpet playing and of course also music theories. I played trumpet in two local brass bands, one big band and I also played some times as a visitor in the symphony orchestra of Kouvola.

While still playing trumpet, at the age of 15, I started to play bass, which is still my main instrument. I have played bass in several bands and many different styles from traditional Finnish dance music to fusion jazz. I also played as a professional musician for several years with top national artists, like Paula Koivuniemi, Eija Kantola and Saija Varjus to mention a few. As a professional musician, I had to travel around Finland and it slowly started to feel too heavy, so I decided to quit. I played my last gig as a pro on may 31, 2000. I've been working in the software industry ever since.

Several years went without playing anything, but when I picked up the bass after that quite long break, playing started to feel good again. That break was good for me and I also improved as a player, as playing was only a hobby again and there was more time to focus on playing technique etc.
